The popular Book Creator app has recently introduced a new interesting feature called templates to help teachers and students design professional looking books in few easy steps. There are now two forms of books on Book Creator: template books and theme books.
Template books
These are pre-built templates that can be used to guide students’ creative writing and help them explore new learning possibilities. As the folks in Book Creator stated, “With these templates, the design work is taken care of so that leaves students the freedom to focus on other skills such as persuasive writing, research or storytelling. What’s more, we’ve made an effort to link our templates to academic themes, which might inspire you and your students to create books you might not have otherwise thought about.” Examples of template books include: Newspaper (a template for creating classic newspapers), Photobook (a template for showcasing one’s photos), Yearbook (a template for creating end of year books), Textbook, Notebook, Magazine, Fiction and many more.
Theme books
These are “fairly consistent in layout but have different colour schemes, text options and fun options like stickers to customise the books as you like.” Examples of themes include: Antique (e.g. ‘A great way to bring history to life! This would work well for any history or social studies project’), Modern (e.g., A professional, clean theme that you could imagine using for a school prospectus or handbook’), Graffiti (e.g., ‘this is an alternative theme that could fit a lot of different projects, maybe social studies, art or other contemporary subjects? “.
